Shouting It!

It happened! It happened IT HAPPENED!!!

"Congratulations! Today we officially accepted The Orchard for publication. It's a unique story that captured our imagination, and we love the way you crafted and developed both the plot and the characters. Your revisions were excellent, and we are pleased to be able to bring your book to the LDS market."

It looks like The Orchard will be out for your reading enjoyment Spring/Summer 2011!!!!!!!!!!!! It's still sinking in. I jumped around too much after dinner. Side-ache. It's a good side-ache, though. I love the look on my husband's face. He totally loves this for me.

Thank you, Covenant Communications and the readers! Thank you, Kathryn Jenkins! I can't wait to meet my editor! My head is spinning... ahhhhhh!

Couldn't be happier for you! Can't wait to buy your book, bring it home and share it with my daughter with tales of, "you know I went to HS with her!"

Happy holidays!

How long did the submission process take. Did you hear from them part of the way through?

Krista said...

Kate, I submitted the ms in Nov '08.
June '09 I asked them for word on my submission. They replied it was still under review.
July 29 '09 they asked for revisions, which I sent to them August 14.
Oct '09 I asked for a status update, because I was going nuts. They replied it was still out for evaluations.
Nov 9 '09 (my daughter's b-day) they let me know it was going to the managing committee.
Dec 2'09, they sent me congratulations; it had been accepted!
So what is that...a year and a month. Suddenly it doesn't seem so long!

Wow. Thanks for the info. I wonder if I could be that patient. Did you submit elsewhere during all of that?

No, but I was thinking about it when I asked LDS publisher advice, and she suggested asking for the update. It was good advice.
