I mentioned
a few posts ago that my oldest son, Braeden, recently got his senior portraits taken, and since I was in need of an updated author photo, we made a day of it. It turned out to be great for both of us, because having a big camera aimed at you for large chunks of time as you hear *click* *click* *click* repeatedly is a little unnerving, and we fed off each other's antics, got some genuine smiles in, and a few laughs, too. Which happens a lot with my son, who has my sense of humor but is much quicker on the draw.

See that smile? I'm up on the hill jumping around, waving my arms.
That smile is for me. It says, "Man, my mom is weird AND awesome." |
|
He makes this face a lot. |
|
Braeden is a pretty quiet kid, but if he decides to talk, he will talk and talk and talk.
I love being the recipient of this. |
|
This is my favorite. It reminds me of when he was little and would ask for a cookie
or something and just wait quietly with this look on his face
and of course I would say YES BECAUSE LOOK AT THIS FACE. |
It was a really good day with my son, who will soon be moving on to big, grown-up world things.
I try not to think about it because when I do a chunk of broken cement gets lodged in my throat and everything goes watery.
So now I have some new author photos. I need to decide which photo to send to my publisher for the back of my books and since you all were such great helpers
a few years back, I'm asking again.
What do you think?

And to move things along, I'll put everyone who votes into a drawing for my book OF GRACE AND CHOCOLATE, which you may want for yourself, OR to give as one of the best Christmas presents ever. Just sayin'. I'll draw names on Wednesday, December 12th at 10pm.
OKAY, TELL ME WHAT TO DO.

I love your smile in #4. And your son is adorable. I would have given him cookies too.
They all look great!! No wonder you need help choosing. I like #3 because it is different and the blue wall matches your eyes!! (I wish my blue eyes were that bright!!) But I really like your smile and the tilt of your head in #4. Have fun!!!
#1 and #4 are my favorites! You are beautiful Krista!
I love #3. I think the pose is playful and it's just a fun picture.
I vote for #2.
My vote is for #2. Your son is a lucky guy.
I'm in the minority here. They're all beautiful, but #1 is very different from your last bio pic, and it shows a different side of you. The others are more like the last one.
Long way of voting for #1!
I like #2
Also: WATCH OUT YOU'RE ON THE RAILROAD TRACKS AAAAAHHH!!
The colors in #3 are beautiful... your eyes, the wall, and your blouse are all the same blue. Perty!! But I also love your smile in #4.
Your son is adorable. I get the same weepy-ish feelings about my teenage son. Like, please stop growing... please? Just for a second?
Oof, I can tell this is still going to be difficult.
And AAAHHHHHHHHH!!!
#2.
I like #1 and #3 equally. :)
I like them all, but I love #4. :)
2 is a great close up, but I love the whole look of 4 :). Awesome pics!
I like #1
I love #4. great pics, all! the railroad pic is so great!
#1B-you look fabulous in all of them! that one if my favorite.
I like the one you edited. It looks natural, and is a close up, so think it would fit for a book picture better than the fuller exposures. Still has that earthy feel to it as well :)
They are all beautiful, but if I had to pick, I'd choose #2.
I like 1c
#2 but cropped in closer.
Have you looked at them greyscale, since that's the way Covenant will be publishing the photo in the back of your books?
I'd like to be able to see your pretty face well, so #1, unless you crop one of the other ones in.
I like them all so listen to everyone else. Also, you are too dang photogenic for your own good. I don't think a bad photo of you exists.
SHANDA!!!!
Oooh, in black and white, I think I like 5 best.
They all look great but I like #2 the best! I can't believe how grown up he looks! It wasn't that long ago that we were playing Crash Bandicoot (sp?) was it?!
